The CAO Interest Test focuses on Irish college courses available through the CAO system and is a very comprehensive guide to the 1,500+ CAO courses on offer. It does not recommend PLCs, Tertiary degrees or apprenticeships. For courses abroad, our European Courses Test matches your interests to over 1,400 undergraduate courses across Europe taught entirely in English, and you can browse them all in our Study in Europe section.

Yes, if you tick this option when it is presented to you, the recommendations you are given will take this into account.

Yes, you can log back into your findmycollegecourse.ie account at any stage during the current CAO cycle. You can change your points options, your levels options and even where you would like to go to college to get updated recommendations. You will not be able to resit the interest test, as it has been tailored to you.

You cannot retake the interest test once it is completed, as it is tailored specifically to you. However, you can log back into your account during the current CAO cycle to update your points, levels, or preferred college location and receive updated recommendations.

We keep only what we need to give you your results and let you log back in:

• Your account: your name and email address, so you can log in.
• Your test: your answers, your expected points and your level and location preferences, plus your results, so you can return during the CAO cycle and get updated recommendations.
• If you registered with a school code: your guidance counsellor can see your name, interest scores and recommended courses on their teacher dashboard.

How long: we keep your account and results for 12 months after you buy the test, then delete them. This applies from 1 December 2026. We may keep anonymous, combined statistics (for example, how many students scored highly in Engineering) that can’t identify you.

Payments are handled by Stripe: we never see or store your card details. We don’t sell your data or share it with anyone else unless the law requires it. You can ask to see, correct or delete your data at any time by emailing info@findmycollegecourse.ie. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

It is a separate test that matches your interests to over 1,400 undergraduate courses across Europe that are taught entirely in English. You answer questions about what you enjoy, then choose the countries you would consider, the yearly fee you could manage and how you would like to get in. Your results show your top interest areas and the European courses that match them. The questions are different from the CAO Interest Test.

It costs €24.95, with access for one year. If you have already bought the CAO Interest Test, log in with the same account and it costs €14.95. The discount is applied automatically at checkout.

No. These courses are not part of the CAO. You apply directly to each university, or through that country’s own application system, and each university sets its own Leaving Cert requirements. Every course page in our Study in Europe section explains the requirements for Irish students.

You can take the interest questions once, as your results are tailored to your answers. You can change the countries, fee range and entry route at any time and your recommended courses update straight away.
