Pharmacy at University of Galway

The University of Galway have released the CAO course code for the long awaited MPharm course.

This Pharmacy course is 5 years long and qualifies graduates to work as pharmacists.  The first 4 years, students will complete the BSc Pharmacy before completing the 1 year MPharm.

Lots of potential applicants were curious about the entry requirements to this course.  UCC requires a 3rd language and H4 in Chemistry and another science subject.  Trinity College requires a H4 in Chemistry and another science subject.  RCSI requires a 3rd language and a science subject.

So what will the University of Galway require? Well good news for potential applicants without a 3rd language.  Entry requirements are a pass in English, Irish (unless exempt), Maths and a H4 in any lab science subject (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Physics with Chemistry, or Agricultural Science).  There is no 3rd language requirement.

Then the million dollar question is, what will the points be for this course? I would imagine this course will be very popular among CAO applicants, particularly with the entry requirements.  There will only be 40 places on the course in 2025.  However, there will be 76 places in 2026, which is not a consolation for this years applicants.  I would imagine the points will be quiet high for this, but I would be hesitant to make a guess on what the points might be.

If you are interested in applying for this course, you can apply through the CAO when the Change of Mind Facility opens on 6th May at 12 noon.  The course code is GY505.
