Combines politics (40%) with economics and mathematics (40%), plus trade and logistics (10%) and organisation and management (10%). In the 5th semester students take electives at CBS or elsewhere, go on exchange or do an internship.

Entry requirements for Irish students

  • Denmark accepts the Leaving Certificate as an EU school-leaving qualification, but CBS sets specific requirements at Danish levels and does not publish an Ireland-specific mapping on its admission page. Non-convertible foreign exams are assessed only in Quota 2. Do not assume Ordinary Level will count for B level; confirm with CBS admissions.
  • Specific requirements: English B (minimum Danish grade 6.0; language requirement A), Mathematics B, and History, Social Studies or International Economics at B. Quota 2 selection is an overall assessment of your motivational essay, relevant extra-curricular activities and your general grade level in the specific entry requirements.
  • English: CBS lists Ireland among countries where completing upper secondary education taught in English (at least 3 years) meets the English A requirement, so IELTS or TOEFL should not be needed.

How to apply

  1. Check subject levelsAsk CBS which Leaving Cert subjects and levels meet English B, Mathematics B and History/Social Studies B.
  2. Apply on optagelse.dkRank CBS programmes among up to 8 choices and submit by 15 March 2027 at 12:00 noon Danish time.
  3. Essay and activitiesUpload your motivational essay and documentation of activities; these carry real weight in Quota 2.
  4. Results and housingFollow CBS instructions on final results (CBS deadline 5 July), watch for offers on 28 July, and search for accommodation immediately.
Deadline for Irish/EU applicants: Apply on optagelse.dk by 15 March 2027 at 12:00 noon Danish time (national Quota 2 deadline). CBS says all specific entry requirements must be documented by 5 July at 12:00 noon; offers are sent on 28 July. Leaving Cert results arrive in late August, so confirm the arrangement for Irish applicants with CBS..

Costs

  • No tuition fee and no application fee for EU/EEA citizens, so Irish students pay nothing to CBS. Living costs in Copenhagen are high.
This is a maths-heavy politics degree (40% economics and mathematics), so it suits students strong in Maths as well as politics. Irish applicants are selected in Quota 2 on essay, activities and grades.
